Swift Energy gets new CFO

Houston-based Swift Energy has a new chief financial officer (CFO), Kallanish Energy reports.

Gleeson Van Riet has been named executive vice president and CFO, effective today, March 20. He succeeds retiring CFO Alton Heckaman, who announced his retirement last August.

Heckaman will remain with the company through the end of March and will consult when needed after that.

CEO Sean Woolverton said of Van Riet: “His experience as a public company CFO in the upstream sector and previous exposure to the Eagle Ford make him an ideal fit.”

Said Van Riet in a statement: “I look forward to helping the company advance its strategic growth initiatives through a disciplined financial approach.”

The 48-year-old Van Riet previously served as CFO at Sanchez Energy where he had worked in different positions from 2013 to 2016. He has more than 20 years of financial experience and previously worked as an investment banker with Credit Suisse and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in London and Los Angeles.

A native of Houston, Van Riet has two bachelor degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Swift Energy is active in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas and in Louisiana. It emerged from Chapter 11 reorganization 11 months ago.
