Colombian crude oil production hit a two-year high in October, averaging some 878,854 barrels per day, the country’s energy ministry said in its latest statistic report.
Output was at its highest level since June 2016, after a 1.2% growth from the 868,704 Bpd produced in September, and a 1.7% increase year-over-year, Kallanish Energy learns.
The ministry explained the increase was mainly due to the optimization of production in the Castilla, Chichimene, Akacias, Bacano and Rubiales fields, and the reactivation of the Lisa and Tronos fields.
In terms of gas production, the South American country saw growth of 3.1% year-over-year, but a 0.98% drop compared to volumes in September due to lower gas demand. Operators produced a total of 953 million cubic feet per day (Mmcf/d) of natural gas in October.
The main operators of Colombian hydrocarbon fields are state-owned oil company Ecopetrol, Parex, Las Quinchas Oil and Gran Tierra Energy.
